The Etowah District is lucky to have Daniel Victorio as our District Executive. Not many districts have a lifelong scout!
Daniel started in Scouting as a Tiger Cub in Den 5 of Pack 65 in Snellville, GA with his identical twin brother, Daryll, and his Den Leader dad, Fernando. Scouting was a big adventure for him and he went on many campouts including Fun With Son at Camp Rainey Mountain and Cub Day Camps. Daniel earned his Arrow of Light and Religious Youth Award (Parvuli Dei) before moving on to Troop 582 in Snellville. As a Scout, Daniel achieved the rank of Life. He volunteered on Day Camp Staff and was a Boy Scout Summer Camp staff member at Camp Rainey Mountain. He joined the Order of the Arrow and served as Chapter Chief of the old Tsali Chapter and worked on the Indian Engineers team of Mowogo Lodge. In college, Daniel continued to work on staff at Camp Rainey Mountain during the summers eventually serving as Scout Skills Director, TNT Director, Waterfront Director, Camp Commissioner and Camp Program Director.
In 2003 Daniel came to work for the Northeast Georgia Council as the Council Program Assistant and became Camp Director of Scoutland Adventure Camp. He worked with fellow staff members to develop the Scoutland Aquatics Outpost and Aquatics Adventure Weekends which began the summer of 2005. In 2008, he was asked to serve as Camp Director at Camp Rainey Mountain. After a successful Summer Camping season he was given the opportunity to become a District Executive for the Etowah District and now proudly serves Scouting in Forsyth, Dawson, and Lumpkin Counties.
As a volunteer, Daniel served on the Troop Committees of Troops 582 and 599. He served as Skipper of Sea Scout Ship 12 in Snellville, GA for seven years and has taken scouts sailing on Lake Lanier, the Gulf of Mexico, The Bahamas, and the British Virgin Islands. He has earned the Skipper’s Key, the Skipper’s Training Award, the Venturing Leadership Award and received his Wood Badge beads as a Bobwhite in SR-830.
