Maybe you just want to help your unit out, but you don't really have a lot of leadership experience. Maybe you have some basic knowledge of the outdoors, but your idea of Map and Compass involves your phone's GPS. Or maybe you're one of the few that has been camping and pioneering since you were old enough to pitch a tent... you would still do well to think twice before handing a new Scout that axe!
No matter your level of experience, BSA training will teach you what you need to know to run a successful program. We take the approach that in order to effectively teach a Scout a skill, you ought to have done it yourself. Our training programs are designed to teach you to be a teacher - you'll gain first-hand experience in Scout skills, cooking, planning, safety, and more.
Not only that, but training events are great opportunities to meet up with other volunteers around the area. You'll exchange ideas, meet new friends, and learn from experienced leaders who have been there and done that.
So what have you got to lose? Be prepared. Get trained.
