A scout is reverent. It is important to give
thanks for all that we are given and recognize that, without the help of
our volunteers, the scout program would not work.
The God Send Award is a UNIT LEVEL RECOGNITION and
will be awarded to recipients at the Leader Appreciation Dinner that
takes place the 2nd Thursday of May. It is an opportunity to publicly
thank and recognize an individual or spousal couple for all of their
help in their Scouting Unit.
So much of what scouts experience is at a Unit
level. Oftentimes, there is an individual that does so much for the Unit
and it just wouldn’t be the same without them. Sometimes these
individuals don’t receive recognition or an award for everything they
do. The God Send Award will help us to give them a small token of
appreciation for all their help with their specific Unit.
|
Primary Purpose: To recognize the
important efforts of volunteers/parents who contribute significantly at
a UNIT LEVEL (they are a “God Send” to the Unit.) This award does NOT
replace any other recognition award.
Secondary Purpose: To get to know these
important volunteers at a district level. To help “pool” and recognize
all the talent that is out there.
|
|
Eligibility: Any parent or volunteer who
contributes significantly at the Unit level. Each Unit can decide how to
decide this (e.g. a Committee Chair decides, or the Committee decides,
or put it up for nomination and votes, etc.) It can be an individual or
a husband/wife couple. Receiving the award: At the Leader Appreciation
Dinner on the 2nd Thursday in May. Committee Chairs will be asked to
present the award to the recipient(s) as part of the Awards ceremony.
Other Unit volunteers will be asked to attend as well in support and
recognition of the individual who will receive the award. |
The Award: Is a special name tag that
has been designed especially to recognize the recipients.
Cost: Units will pay $5 for 1 award or
$10 for a couple who receives the award. This will cover the cost for
the name tag, including tax and any shipping charges.
